Martin Keown has criticized Arsenal’s three forwards at Stadium Astro, following their performance against Leicester City on Monday.

Arsenal fell 1-0 to the Foxes, with a Jamie Vardy goal that proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Arsenal had much of the ball but, outside of an opportunity for Alexandre Lacazette, they struggled to create too many starts.

And Keown felt Lacazette, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka didn’t show the ball enough.

“These players are getting the ball and it’s getting a bit stuck,” he said.

“It was very static, the three forwards never moved from position or were available. So he works in boot camp. “

In fairness to the Arsenal trio, it was the first time they had all played together in the new Arteta system.

Arsenal played in a 4-3-3 form against Leicester, which appears to be Arteta’s preferred formation for the future.

Previously, Arteta didn’t have the right players available to use the system, but after the arrival of Thomas Partey, he now seems comfortable deploying it.

And Arsenal will hope to become a bigger attacking threat once its players become familiar with the new form in the coming weeks.
