Kylian’s renewal is starting to cause some concern at Paris Saint-Germain. The forward’s contract expires in 2022 and talks to discuss an extension have not started well.
The future of Mbappé is something that everyone will be debating in the coming months, in Paris even more than anywhere else and Youri Djorkaeff, ambassador of PSG and Ligue 1, has expressed his opinion on the situation.
“He has a project, he is starting his fourth year in Paris and he is still a young player,” Djorkaeff said. “Last year he had a chance to win the Champions League, but unfortunately he couldn’t.
“He has the same opportunity this year. The ideal scenario would be for him to win it and then sign for another team. That way everyone would be happy.”
Djorkaeff is resigned to the fact that Mbappé will leave PSG sooner or later, but wants him to do so having won the most important club competition in Europe.
“I don’t see Mbappé staying at PSG for 10 years,” added Djorkaeff. “But it would be a shame if he didn’t win the Champions League. He represents PSG, but there are many things that come into play.”
The French champions, despite knowing the difficulty of the task, will do everything possible to extend Mbappé’s stay at the Parc des Princes.
However, with Real Madrid interested and Mbappé seemingly eager to play at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, his future beyond 2022, and perhaps even 2021, appears to be far from the French capital.
Since joining PSG from Monaco in 2017, Mbappé has played 130 times and scored 96 goals for the club.
After 27 goals in 60 appearances in Monaco, Real Madrid was one of the clubs in search of the forward, although he chose to stay in France to move to Paris.
