Richard Kwadwo Adu, a former Assembly member, described Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Executive Director of Special Ice Company, producers of bottled and mineral water as a true statesman embedded with a high sense of patriotism and love for the nation.
“Dr. Sarpong has proven himself for many years as a cunning businessman and philanthropist, a true statesman who has the stamp and spirit of patriotism and nationalism. As a nation, we must honor and inspire him to continue humanitarian work, ”he said.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Adu, a former Ntoase Election Area Assemblyman in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, told Dr. Sarpong, who jointly controls several businesses in Ghana, and owns shares in Best Point Savings & Loans Limited, earned a state honor.
“Born more than 54 years ago, Ghana must publicly recognize and honor him because good people like Dr. Sarpong are extremely difficult to come by,” said Adu, who was also a former youth organizer for the New Patriotic Party.
“It is not worth dying for nations that do not appreciate or honor their heroes at the right time,” he said, concerned that among these and other reasons the spirit of volunteerism and love for the nation was gradually declining among Ghanaians.
Mr. Adu noted that a public or state honor directed at selfless, dedicated, patriotic, and deserving individuals would serve as a monument, that the current and unborn generation would build their lives.
