Harry Maguire seems to criticize Frank Lampard’s comment on Instagram

Harry Maguire has apparently countered Frank Lampard by accusing the Manchester United defender of putting César Azpilicueta into a “headlock.”

Chelsea manager Lampard was furious that his team did not receive a penalty in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Maguire had his hands around Azpilicueta as they contested the ball in the United area, but the VAR saw nothing wrong with the challenge.

Lampard criticized the decision not to award Chelsea a penalty, telling the Match of the Day that Maguire should have been penalized for his “headlock”.

“Holding is allowed, but the locks don’t continue,” said the Chelsea manager.

“I do not know why the VAR did not take long and there is also a monitor to look at. I think that if the referee approaches the monitor he will give a penalty.”

Lampard also added after the game: “Without a doubt[itwasapenaltyagainstMaguireI’minterestedtoseewhattheotherssay”[itwasapenaltyagainstMaguireI’minterestedtoseewhateveryoneelsesays[fueunpenalticontraMaguireEstoyinteresadoenverquédicenlosdemás”[itwasapenaltyagainstMaguireI’minterestedtoseewhateveryoneelsesays

“I talked to the guys about how many penalties they have here, in the last two seasons they are way ahead in Europe.”

Reece James grabs Maguire in the middle

Maguire remained tight-lipped at the criticism presented to her, but ultimately responded on Instagram Story.

By posting just a wordless image, Maguire appeared to hit back with an image of Blues defender Reece James (as seen above) holding him up the middle, a challenge that also went unnoticed by the referee.
