Harry Kane claims Tottenham ‘can do something special’ this season after he and Son Heung-Min combined for the ninth time in the 2020-2021 campaign.
Kane helped Son once again with a quick move to see Spurs beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor to move José Mourinho’s men to fifth place in the Premier League.
Kane says he is excited about the club’s potential, having been undefeated in 10 games in all competitions, progressing to the Europa League group stage and reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, but insists that it is’ too early ‘to discuss the Premier League Title.
Speaking about his association with Son, the Tottenham captain told BBC Sport: ‘It’s great.
Sonny and I have had a nice little partnership recently and I hope it continues.
‘I think having more understanding when I’m falling deep for him to run behind [is the difference]. It is also just trust.
“Even today it wasn’t an incredible assist, but Sonny liked him.”
Burnley’s combination was the 29th time the duo teamed up for a goal in the Premier League.
Such a tally makes them the second-best joint association in league history, behind only Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, who totaled 36.
Individually, Son is the top scorer with eight, while Kane has been involved in 13 goals this season, breaking the record for most goals and assists contributed in six games.
When asked about Tottenham’s current form, Kane expressed his enthusiasm for his team’s potential.
“I think we are at a stage where we have been so close for so many years, many of us have been together for four or five years,” he told Sky Sports.
“The additions this year have been fantastic and we all have more experience. We know that with the team we have and the players we have we can do something special ”.
However, when asked about Totteham’s chances of winning the Premier League, Kane insisted it was too early to tell.
He said: ‘It’s still early. We need to take each game as it comes.
I know it’s a cliché. We still have a lot to learn and build, but I think nights like this will give us a lot of confidence. ”
