The Most Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, warned newly ordained ministers of the Church not to adopt inappropriate ways of taking money from parishioners.

“As Methodist ministers, you are called to enrich lives, but that is not about preaching prosperity, or asking members to come for a visa, holy water and jobs, among others, but preaching holiness.

“Don’t go fooling people with all kinds of gymnastics. Many pastors are too fake and use all forms of gymnastic fantasy to get money from members. As Methodist ministers, do not behave in that way, because you are called to bring an integral transformation to society, ”he said.

The presiding bishop gave the advice Sunday when the Church ordained 46 new ministerial candidates at Wesley Cathedral, Accra, Thomas Clegg Kaneshie Methodist Church and Mount Olivet Methodist Church, Dansoman.

Reverend Boafo lamented the injustices and corruption in society to which the church was no exception, and asked ministers not to be afraid to speak out against negative practices.

“God called you not only for quiet times but also for difficult times so that you can help shape society. God is sending you to address injustices in society, to be the voice of those who have no voice and give life to dead situations, “he added.

The presiding bishop also warned ministers not to look for spiritual powers elsewhere than those of God, saying, “They are not going to look for powers anywhere, but they hope only in God, who is mighty and powerful.”

He advised the Ministers to be humble, seek God’s wisdom, and dedicate themselves to His service in order to fulfill their calling and win souls for His kingdom.

As the nation prepared for general elections, Most. Rev. Boafo advised Christians, especially members of the Methodist Church, not to engage in any form of illegal and violent activities.

“Let it not be said that we Methodists were part of a tumult, confusion and cutlass pulls during and after the elections,” he warned.

Most Reverend Boafo pleaded with the spouses of ordained Ministers to help promote the work of Ministers by being good advice and giving up the habit of wanting to take over the Ministry or exhibiting bad deeds in the church.
The presiding bishop prayed for all the ministers and presented a Bible and a certificate to give them the authority to preach the word of God in and out of season.
He, along with other bishops, donned the robe of ordained ministers as the outward mark of his ordination in pastoral ministry.
The ministers, who had undergone six years of academic and field training at Trinity Theological Seminary, said willingly that they were willing with all faithful diligence to chase away all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to the word of God.

The ordination program, which gave ministers the opportunity to begin administering the sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion, among others, was adorned with traditional lyrical ministrations.

The Rev. Sebastian Osabarima, one of the newly ordained ministers, told the Ghana News Agency that he would dedicate himself to the service of God and follow the advice of the presiding bishop.

The Reverend Rachel Stuff, another ordained minister, said that she would lead the Church with humility and only with the true direction of God.
