President Nana Akufo-Addo has cut the grass for the construction of the first phase of the Tema-Aflao highway.

Since travelers had to spend more than four hours crossing the road through the Dawhenya municipality, the president described the situation as “very unproductive”, hence the government’s decision to address the situation on that road and other areas to along other national corridors.
The 17 km highway project begins 1 km east of the Tema highway roundabout, incorporating mixed-use cities such as Dawhenya, and ends approximately 3 km east of the Central University intersection.
At the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo noted that the need to improve this corridor has been assessed in the context of the Trans-West Africa Highway in general, in addition to the fact that this highway serves as the backbone of a coastal residential significant and growing. , economic and recreational population.
Furthermore, the Transport Infrastructure Framework of the Ghana Infrastructure Plan (2018-2047) recognizes that some stretches of road are critical to the socio-economic development of the country.
Therefore, the Plan highlights that the development of these priority corridors will facilitate trade and the movement of goods and services within the West African Region.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure the implementation of the 2020 declaration as the “Year of the Roads,” adding that more sections of roads across the country are being improved from gravel surfaces to asphalt-lined roads or pavement. asphaltic concrete.
The President expressed the gratitude of the government and people of Ghana to the British government for its continued assistance and support for the construction of the Tema-Aflao road.
