What supporters of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) and the National Democratic Congress (PNP) thought was a walk for peace in the early hours of Sunday turned violent in Jamestown, in the Odododiodio constituency.

According to sources, the violence occurred around the ‘Atta Mills Highway’, at a popular intersection known as ‘One Way’ in the area.

A series of videos that emerged on social media detailing the incident showed supporters on both sides throwing rocks and raining insults at each other.

Although the cause of the violence is unknown, it is said to have occurred between supporters of the incumbent NDC deputy Nii Lante Vanderpuye and Nii Lante Bannerman of the NPP.

The two are set to compete in the upcoming parliamentary elections on December 7, 2020.

Police were said to have been called to the scene to calm things down and took written statements about the violence that followed.

Meanwhile, the Police leadership has revealed that the Odododiodio constituency has about 50 hotspots in its latest hot spot assessment before the general elections.
