The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on the leadership of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to work hard to revive the party and firmly position it to be a force in the country’s political administration.
He said the ancestors of the CPP worked very hard to position it as a political force, which later gained independence from Ghana.
The time had come for the current generation of the party to continue and work assiduously to unite as a unified force to regain political power in the country.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu made the call when CPP standard-bearer, Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, led a party delegation to visit him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The visit was to introduce himself to the Asantehene and seek their blessings and guidance as he embarked on a three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti region to interact with party supporters and sell the CPP message to the electorates before the 2020 elections.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu also tasked party leaders with working to fulfill their campaign promises when the party wins the December 2020 elections.
Greenstreet, for his part, said the CPP was the only party that worked to transform the country after colonial rule and created job opportunities for Ghanaians.
The party was on its way to come back to redeem people, especially the young, from the current state of unemployment and create opportunities that offered hope to many Ghanaians.
Mr. Greenstreet said that the time of NPP and NDC was over, and now was the time for the CPP to take over the leadership of the country.
“NPP and NDC have done their thing, but now is the time for a change, and that change can only be CPP.
“We are number four on the ballot and we are going to communicate these things to the people of our visit,” he emphasized.
He said that the CPP defended peace and truth in all its dealings with the electorates.
“We come in peace and truth.
“People have seen so many empty promises, so it is time for them to understand that only one part, the CPP, can change their lives,” he added.
Greenstreet said that the CPP was formidable in the Ashanti region and that with the blessings granted by Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the party would have a great impact in the region to claim the presidential seat on December 7.
“People must understand that a vote for the CPP is a vote for progress for themselves, as the CPP represents progress and prosperity for all Ghanaians,” he added.
