It was time for a celebration of some kind for Arsenal fans on Thursday night, as Thomas Partey made a big impact on his full debut with the Gunners.

The Ghanaian midfielder started off the bench against Manchester City at the weekend, coming in as a late replacement for Granit Xhaka, but was in the starting lineup on Thursday against Rapid Wien.

A featured package from his performance shows exactly why the 27-year-old was being talked about after the match.

After the game, his new coach was certainly pleased with his performance. “I think he stayed only in midfield in the second half, when we were a little more open and we started running more opportunities attacking certain spaces with some players,” Arteta said.

“But I think he was fantastic tonight and obviously there’s a lot more to come from him.”

Partey’s stats certainly speak for themselves as well.

“This guy makes it look so easy. Everybody’s looking at him. He runs the whole game, you can tell he’s been playing in the Champions League, it’s too easy for him.”

Partey also managed to win the Man of the Match award, as Arsenal were the first of his group in Europe, and fans are hoping he will carry the form to Sunday, when they face Leicester City in the Premier League.
