Mesut Ozil brutally beats Mikel Arteta while sending a message to Arsene Wenger

Mesut Ozil gave Mikel Arteta a not-so-subtle punch when he sent Arsene Wenger a happy birthday message on Thursday.

The German, who issued an irate statement accusing Arsenal of disloyalty on Wednesday, paid tribute to a man who was always “respectful, fair and honest.”

Ozil was furious to learn that he had been kicked out of Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad until at least February, just a week after he was dropped from Arteta’s Europa League squad.

Returning to a happier time in the Emirates, Ozil sent Wenger birthday wishes on social media on Thursday, but he couldn’t resist targeting his new boss.

Ozil wrote: “Happy birthday, boss! Thank you for all your trust and support that you have given me from my first to your last day at Arsenal.

“Without a doubt one of the best coaches in the history of the Premier League, always respectful, fair and honest. I wish him all the best!”

Ozil’s message comes just a day after he published his statement, which points to the current state of Arsenal’s management.

Ozil wrote on Wednesday: “I am really deeply disappointed that I am not signed up for the Premier League season at the moment.

“By signing my new contract in 2018, I pledged loyalty and fidelity to the club I love, Arsenal, and I am saddened that this was not reciprocated.

“As I just found out, loyalty is hard to come by these days.

“I’ve always tried to stay positive from week to week that maybe there is a chance to get back to the team soon. That’s why I’ve been silent until now.

“Before the coronavirus outbreak, I was very happy with the development with our new coach Mikel Arteta. We have been in a positive way. I would say that my performances have been at a really good level.”

“But then things changed, again, and I was no longer allowed to play football at Arsenal.”
