Jordi Alba could be fit in time to face Real Madrid in Saturday’s El Clásico at the Camp Nou, as the 31-year-old trained with the rest of his Barcelona teammates on Thursday.
The decision on his inclusion now depends on discussions between the player, Ronald Koeman and the club’s medical staff, as well as how Jordi Alba responds to training on Friday, which will be the last before the clash.
The left-back suffered a hamstring strain against Sevilla on October 4 and had to be withdrawn at minute 75, being replaced by Sergino Dest. The summer signing debuted there and since then has continued as a substitute on the left of the defense.
At the time, the club did not release details on the length of Jordi Alba’s likely absence. Now, three weeks later, the player seems to have recovered, but it will be Koeman who decides if he wants to risk it. Given there is another crucial game next Wednesday, away at Juventus in the Champions League, no one would want to see a relapse.
