Ghana Link Network Services Limited, in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Customs Division, has started another round of refresher training for Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) users.
The training currently taking place in the northern part of Ghana is expected to cover the northern, Savanah and upper east regions, while equipping all stakeholders, especially customs officers and freight forwarders in the designated area.
After nearly 4 months of nationwide implementation, the ICUMS implementation committee and Ghana Link, the technical service provider, put together the training program to help train and update stakeholders using the system on upgrades and New additions.
The training that started on Monday October 19, 2020 at the GRA Customs Division office Tamale pickup will cover all regimes within customs and after the northern part of Ghana will be carried to all other areas collection of customs and freight forwarders. in the country.
ICUMS Implementation Team Chair and also James Town Customs Collections Sector Commander – GRA Division, AC Emmanuel Ohene, speaking to the media, revealed that refresher training has become necessary to help update and also bring in ICUMS users. accelerate with new developments in the system.
“We are doing this to introduce new initiatives to both customs agents and freight forwarders, especially educating customs officials about the new decentralization initiatives in ICUMS. We are currently spending 10 days in the northern part of Ghana and will be moving to other areas of the country. “
“We will share new dates and times of the other areas with interested parties as soon as they are established,” he said.
He added that training had become necessary as customs officials operating the ICUMS needed to improve their skills to help reduce response time and, more importantly, help the government achieve its goal of improving performance in the ease of doing business.
The Tamale team will visit Tatale, Yendi, Bunkprugu, Wonjuga, all in the North and Northeast regions and from there head to Bolga, Paga, Kulungugu and Pulimakom in the Savanah and Upper East regions to train staff and other parts interested before heading south.
Other members of the ICUMS implementation team who traveled with AC President Emmanuel Ohene were Messrs. S. Owusu Ansah, Jalil Abdulrahman and Dixon Kodua, all from Customs.
