Chelsea have surprisingly included veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech in the Premier League’s 25-man squad, while omitting Ghana defender Baba Rahman from the roster.
Baba joined the Blues in 2015 in a deal that was reportedly worth £ 22 million, but his career at Stamford Bridge hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.
The 26-year-old made his only Chelsea appearances with José Mourinho in the 2015-16 campaign and has since had a succession of loan assignments outside West London.
Two Bundesliga seasons with Schalke preceded loan spells in France, with Reims, and Spain, with Real Mallorca, but Rahman struggled to make a big impact in any of his temporary homes.
The left side the agreement with Middlesborough could not get over the line, in the summer transfer deadline day, the day of the transfer due to financial issues and other concerns played a role.
