Phil Jones and Sergio Romero left out of Manchester United’s 25-man Premier League squad

Jones and Romero were also left out of United’s Champions League squad earlier this month after losing favor with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But Marcos Rojo, who was also dropped from the Champions League roster, will be available for selection at the national level after being included on the Premier League roster.

Jones made just eight appearances for United last season, enduring a campaign further marred by injuries and fitness concerns. The 28-year-old signed a four-year contract at Old Trafford last year.

Romero, meanwhile, has not returned to training at United’s Carrington base this season after falling into the pecking order.

The Argentine international was Solskjaer’s second goalkeeper until Dean Henderson’s return from a loan at Sheffield United.

Romero had hoped to secure a move away from United during the transfer window, with Everton and Aston Villa interested in his services, but ultimately stayed put.

United’s treatment of Romero was publicly criticized by his wife Eliana Guercio, who accused the Old Trafford club of disrespect.
