Paris Saint-Germain will start as a firm favorite when they take on Manchester United in the Champions League this week.
But the French champions are certainly showing a lot of respect for the Premier League team despite their recent struggles.
United travel to the French capital on Tuesday and PSG opted to let Neymar rest entirely in their last Ligue 1 match before the clash.
Star man Neymar, who has been out on international duty with Brazil, was not even included in the bench when PSG took on Nimes on Friday night.
An early red card for the home team helped ensure his absence was not felt when Kylian Mbappé scored twice in the 4-0 victory before being substituted to preserve him midweek.
Speaking before the game, manager Thomas Tuchel lamented his injury crisis and said 11 players could be missing for United’s visit.
And they were eager to make sure Neymar didn’t join that group, showing respect for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United in a compliment for the ordeal they await midweek.
Tuchel said this week: “We have to take responsibility for Neymar and Kylian, who played almost 90 minutes yesterday, and for the South Americans who have traveled a lot.
“We may only have 11, 12 or 13 players available.
“We have a bit of bad luck. Draxler and Marquinhos also have doubts about Manchester. Colin Dagba had a positive [ coronavirus test] with the U21. In case of a negative test, you can return to the group.
“Kehrer is injured for a few weeks. Bernat and Icardi are injured, Icardi, a week ago. It is the internal ligament of the knee, it is not too serious, but he will miss Nimes and Manchester.”
