The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has observed that while young people allow themselves to be tools of violence during elections, politicians who are their payers enjoy life with their families as they have absolutely nothing to lose.

“Young people will come and cheat on you while their children and wives are at home enjoying themselves. Why are they fooled by violence when the person who hired them is not involved? “, I ask.

The revered King pointed out that politics is a contest of ideas and not of violence, urging young people not to allow themselves to be used for violent activities, since in the end they are the biggest losers.

While accusing Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh and sister security agencies of maintaining law and order before, during and after the 2020 elections, he was optimistic that they will do so in a professional manner. .

“The peace of the elections is in your hands. The IGP has ensured that the police are prepared for the exercise. Anyone who tries to cause trouble must be dealt with legally. They may be crazy bad guys among you, but overall, you have shown beyond reasonable doubt that you can do the job well, “he said.

The IGP, for its part, called on Ghanaians to go to the polls peacefully and refrain from fomenting problems, adding that the law will reach anyone who breaks the electoral rules.

Oppong-Boanuh said that the police had identified some hotspots for elections in the country and were working to tighten security in those areas to ensure peace.

The IGP also inspected a simulation exercise organized by the Regional Police Command at the Police Training School in Patasi, Kumasi, to demonstrate to the public the readiness of the police to face any misfortune on Election Day.

Accompanying the IGP were; COP Mr. George Alex Mensah Director General of Police Services, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo- Danquah (Ms) Director General of Welfare, COP Kwaku Boadu-Peprah Director General of Operations and Chief of Staff ACP Joseph Owusu-Ansah.
