Maguire was sent off during England’s defeat to Denmark
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will “bounce back” from his recent slump and England’s red card, says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 27-year-old center-back was sent off against Denmark on Wednesday, culminating in a troubled couple of months after his arrest in Greece during the preseason.
He could miss Saturday’s Premier League game in Newcastle after Solskjaer said he took a hit against Denmark.
“Harry has great resilience. I know he will recover,” Solskjaer said.
“I know he wants to play, he just wants to get out of the last two games that he has been criticized for. [for].
“He took a hit just before he left, so I’m hopeful he’s in shape. We saw him yesterday and we tried him again today.”
He added: “When Harry is part of the England team that beat Belgium’s number one, it’s a normal day, and then he makes the headlines when he gets sent off. That’s just football for you.
“There are so many ups and downs that we have to deal with, individually and as a group.”

Solskjaer also said that he will not allow club critics to create division at Old Trafford.
United lost 6-1 at home to Tottenham in their last game before the international break. Stories have since emerged about a possible attempt to lure Mauricio Pochettino into the club as a coach, as well as claims about a dispute between Solskjaer and key midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has rejected these claims and Solskjaer feels it is part of a broader attempt to undermine the club.
“It’s one of those things that you have to get over as soon as you can and move on,” Solskjaer said. “We know any small possibility from the outside … you want to create a division.
“I think Bruno spoke very well the other day about how we are united, we have to stay together. We can’t listen to everyone outside. We have to move on.
“Bruno has lost two league games since he came to the club in February, but it has been two in quick succession.
“So he’s not used to losing league games for us, but now Bruno, welcome to Manchester United, this is what happens when you lose a pair, they will try to create a division between us.
“But that’s not going to happen because this group is a group that wants to work hard together, stay together.”
