Parliament undecided on the status of deputy of Fomena ‘limping’ – minority leader

The minority leader has said that Parliament has not yet undergone discussions after a comprehensive study to determine the position of Fomena MP Andrew Amoako Asiamah.

Haruna Iddrisu said MPs would meet with the president to deliberate on a petition from the New Patriotic Party (PNP) seeking the removal of the MP’s lawmaker.

“It is a matter that we are studying carefully with constitutional law advisers. He did not enter as an independent candidate.

“We will have to find out if being fired by the party (PNP) makes him an independent candidate,” the minority leader told Joy FM.

Iddrisu further said that investigations would be conducted to find out what criteria must be met to determine the house’s posture.

According to him, due to the complexity of the issue, “the case is being studied with article 112 and the provisions of article 94 to determine whether or not he is an independent candidate.”

He described Mr Andrew Amoako as a “limping” MP and asked, “if he should be recognized as a Member of Parliament on the party (NPP) list.”

“He walks with a limping leg, for now, he’s a limping candidate,” he said.

The minority leader revealed that the House’s findings would be released to the public.

“When we are conclusive with our findings, we will let the public know what they think. That is whether he should leave his post or continue being a deputy ”.
