Thomas Partey has explained why he has chosen to use his first name and not his last name on the back of his Arsenal jersey.
Ghana international claims game fans are most familiar with his first name
Partey used Thomas during his time at Atlético de Madrid.
He said: “I’ve seen that there is Partey everywhere and even the photographer asked me why I don’t wear Partey on my shirt. I said it’s because I started with Thomas and people are familiar with Thomas so I need to go with Thomas.
“I have seen that everyone has been excited and everyone is willing to win something and all the trophies that are presented to them. I think that’s everyone’s goal and goal here and that’s my goal as well.
“It is something that is difficult and we all know it is difficult, but we are working towards it and I think we are ready. We have to do everything we can and try to achieve all of that ourselves.
“I think it was a new challenge for me. I always wanted to play in the best leagues and the Premier League is one of the best, so I am happy to be here.
“I think it is a great challenge, I want to experience new challenges and also in a great family like Arsenal, I am ready to give my all and try to help this great club return to the place where it belongs.”
Partey sealed a £ 52 million move to Emirates Stadium on the day of the transfer deadline last week.
