The shooting stopper has become the Porcupine Warriors’ fourth acquisition ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of Ghana goalkeeper Razak Abalora.

The plug has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors, becoming his fourth signing before the national soccer season in November.

He was acquired as a free agent, having terminated his contract with Tanzanian club Azam FC earlier this year.

“Welcome Razak Abalora. Former Azam FC goalkeeper joins us with a 3-year contract,” the Kumasi-based team posted on social media on Tuesday.

Abalora’s move to Kotoko comes just one day after he played the full match for Ghana in their international friendly against the Asian champions and 2022 World Cup host Qatar.

He conceded once a day when the Black Stars escaped with a 5-1 win at Titanic Stadium in the Turkish city of Antalya.

Previously, the goalkeeper, who played for Wafa during his previous days in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), was linked to Dreams FC, who were reportedly on the verge of announcing a deal.

His presence in Kotoko heightens high competition for a starting position in the Porcupine Warriors’ goalkeeping department, where Black Stars goalkeeper and club captain Felix Annan and Ghana U23 goalkeeper Kwame Baah have faced each other head-on. to face.

Ghana’s U-20 goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, who spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Berekum Chelsea, is also pushing for the number one spot.

Annan was the first-choice goalkeeper until early last season when he lost his place to Baah, after taking time off to marry his girlfriend.

Upon his return, he was unable to regain the position as his replacement impressed in his absence.

The development has led to a volatile situation at Kotoko’s field, amid speculation of bad blood between the two goalkeepers, as well as between Annan and the technical team, especially head coach Maxwell Konadu.

Kotoko is currently in pre-season camp in Koforidua ahead of her first 2020-21 Premier League match against Eleven Wonders at Accra Sports Stadium next month.

The clubs have already signed former Atalanta player from Italy Patrick Asmah, former Karela United ace Emmanuel Keyekeh and Yusif Mubarik from Ashanti Gold.
