The Players’ Status Committee of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) postponed its ruling against Bernard Morrison for alleged “double signing”.
The Ghanaian was accused by Yanga SC of the aforementioned misconduct after signing for rival Simba SC in the recent transfer window.
Recently. Simba SC admitted that there could be discrepancies in the forward’s contract. Despite Wekundu wa Msimbazi insisting that the deal was legitimate, the move was and continues to be contested by Wananchi, who claims that the player had signed a contract extension with them.
In a recent disclosure, Yanga claimed that the Simba-Morrison contract had irregularities and therefore should not be allowed to stand. In their argument, the 27-time champions claim that the contract, as it is currently on the TFF Transfer Matching System, has only been signed by the player and none of Simba’s officers attached their respective signatures.
On Tuesday, October 13, the TFF Player Status Committee would make a decision on it, but the player was not present due to what he called club commitments.
The striker, however, sent his representatives but there were issues that needed his presence.
“The Committee had no choice but to suspend the ruling as there were some questions that the player had to answer in person,” Committee Chairman Kichere Mwita Waissaka was quoted as saying by Azam TV.
When the TFF Players’ Status Committee declared Morrison a free agent in August, it cited irregularities in the contract that Yanga submitted and it is for the same reasons that Yanga wants the deal struck down.
In a letter to TFF a couple of days ago, Yanga wanted the contract to be canceled and Simba’s points deducted in the games Morrison played.
“Referenced in the header above [improperly registered player in the TMS system] and the precedent of the legal committee and the status of the players ”, said the letter from Yanga obtained by Goal.
“We are aware that the contract published between Mr. Bernard Morrison and Simba Sports Club dated August 14, 2020 appears to be signed by only one party, that is, Mr. Bernard Morrison alone.
“By law, that contract cannot be enforceable and is therefore invalid ab initio. The same contract was used to register Morrison as a contract player for the Vodacom Premier League 07/20/2021.
Along the same lines, we kindly request this committee, using the same jurisprudence, to declare the contract between Bernard Morrison and Simba Sports Club null and void due to having a single signature and lacking the consent of the missing signatures ”.
