N’Golo Kante endured a frustrating 2019/20 campaign.
With Chelsea unable to gain strength in the transfer market, the Frenchman was expected to be a key player for the Blues.
However, he struggled to maintain his form and fitness throughout the season.
In all, he made only 28 appearances in all competitions and did not reach the heights he enjoyed in previous years.
Despite his poor season, it came as a surprise when reports surfaced this summer that Kante could leave the club in the summer.
A meeting with former boss Antonio Conte was touted, and the Frenchman was reportedly ‘open’ to a movement.
But a movement never materialized and Kante stood still. However, a move in the near future could be on the cards now.
That’s because French outlet Le Parisien reported that Kante and Lampard’s relationship is now fractured after a dispute over a wedding.
Kante reportedly asked Lampard for time off to train to attend a friend’s wedding. The English manager rejected this request.
And this decision has reportedly drawn the ire of Kante, who “has struggled to accept the situation.”
The report adds that Kante still wants to do his best for Chelsea this season. But there is the feeling that he could leave this summer, with Real Madrid his ‘dream’ move.

This is very interesting and significant transfer news.
If the news is true, it is extremely worrying for Chelsea.
Kante is still among the best midfielders in the world when he is in top form. He remains a key player for the club and will be paramount if Chelsea want to fight for the Premier League title.
But I have my doubts about the veracity of this story. First of all, Kante is a very nice person. I can’t imagine him fighting anyone.
And second, Lampard granted Kante compassionate leave earlier this year due to fears of the coronavirus. Of course, the situation is a little different now, but why would you decline this request and risk upsetting one of your star players?
We won’t know the truth until Lampard or Kante hit the media. But it’s certainly one to watch out for.
