Real Madrid’s interest in Erling Haaland has Borussia Dortmund in awe, according to reports. The Norwegian international is the hottest prospect in world football, having established himself as the best young striker on the planet. But while the La Liga giants are interested in the youngster, Manchester United are also fans.
Real Madrid endured a quiet transfer window this summer, with the La Liga giants not splurging on big names.
But, behind the scenes, Los Blancos are watching Haaland.
The 20-year-old rose to stardom last season while at Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 28 goals in 22 games before joining Dortmund in January.
And he has continued to thrive in Germany, scoring 21 goals for the club in 23 appearances so far.
Haaland has also been lethal for Norway and recently scored a sublime hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Sweden, with his last goal particularly impressive.
United had hoped to sign the striker in January but missed out. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s interest has not waned and he would still love to take his compatriot to Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen if United can attract the forward to Old Trafford before then, as Solskjaer previously managed the Dortmund star in Molde.
But they will need Champions League football to attract Haaland, with the Norwegian international now virtually guaranteed to play in the competition every year.
Speaking earlier this year, Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski spoke about Haaland.
And he urged him to reject the interest of both Real and United to stay in Dortmund, saying: “He has enormous potential, but he still has time.
“I don’t want to pressure him with my statements.
“If he works hard he can become a better player and eventually reach the highest level. So it might be good for him to stay longer in the Bundesliga before taking the next step.
Premier League deals: every transfer confirmed in the summer window
Meanwhile, speaking after the victory over Sweden, Haaland admitted that he was excited for the future of the country with Martin Odegaard also shining.
“I just have to pay him a little tribute,” Haaland said of Odegaard.
“He finally regained consciousness and played the ball on me.
“Yes, I can just divide it in two.
“It’s good to play with Odegaard. He’ll only get better in the next few years. We’re still young.”
