One person is in critical condition after members of the family of Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP George Mireku Duker were attacked on Saturday.
A group of men armed with machetes is said to have injured several people around 3 in the afternoon.
Some images allegedly those of the victims have also appeared online.
In one such image, one of the victims is seen with a deep, open wound to the head.
The legislator explained that “those who were massacred are in the hospital. I just asked that one of them be referred to the government hospital because the situation is not improving. “
It is not immediately clear what caused the attack, but it is believed to be related to a dispute between bosses.
“There is an undercurrent of dispute over leadership. But some unscrupulous people are relying on it to foment problems… We have been asking the police to act but they have not been quick on that, ”said the MP.
It comes just a week after the city palace burned down.
Duker is a former boss who abdicated the bench prior to his bid to become a deputy, a fact that has become the subject of ongoing legal action.
Three people were injured in the attack, which the deputy suspects is an attack directed against the case that is currently being examined in a Superior Court for which the recent dispute has been used as a front.
“People are hiding behind this just to cause this in my family and as a member of parliament you cannot retaliate without the law. And that has been the path we are tracing.
“But others are using other ways to undermine the rule of law that we are seeing in this community,” he said.
The conversation around the protection provided to MPs was rekindled after the assassination of Mfantseman’s MP Ekow Quansah Hayford on Friday 10 October.
However, Mr. Duker narrated that “yesterday, for example, I had to hide to stay safe. I have no police protection while talking to you, ”he told JoyNews.
Tarkwa Nsuaem’s deputy indicated that he has made the family move to Tarkwa until the tension subsides.
He also called on the police to intensify investigations to bring the perpetrators to reserve and restore peace.
