Manchester United can sign Ousmane Dembele for just £ 45 million next January
According to Sport (h / t Daily Mail), Manchester United can sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé for just £ 45m next January.
The French international was on the club’s radar this summer as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
However, Dembélé turned down the opportunity. He really wanted to stay at the Camp Nou and fight for his position with Ronald Koeman.
Both clubs were also unable to reach a consensus on the nature of the transfer. United favored a change of loan, while the Catalans insisted on a permanent agreement.
The position of the Catalans remains unchanged even after the window was closed last Monday. They are now ready to offer the player a reduced price the next time it opens in two months.
Barcelona are also eager to see the player extend his contract at the club. Doing so will help preserve its value. If Dembélé refuses, the club has no choice but to fire him.
Barcelona signed the player in 2017 in a deal that could amount to 135.5 million pounds. Dembélé was the club’s record signing until Philippe Coutinho broke it shortly after.
While the Frenchman has impressed, it has been too rare, mainly due to injuries. Just three years after signing him, Barcelona are willing to take a massive hit just to let him go.
At the aforementioned price, Dembele is a risk worth taking. At 23, she has her best years ahead of her and could thrive in the right environment.
