Police say they have identified the leader of the gang who shot the 31-year-old senior officer of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The gang’s leader, Dana Nyogma, is alleged to have shot the senior officer leading to his death.
The senior officer was killed after gunmen attacked a National Peace Council delegation on Thursday in Saboba, in the northern region, and many others were wounded.
So far, the police have identified 12 other suspects who mobilized to carry out the attack.
A Yendi Division police investigation team led by the division’s crimes officer, DSP Joseph Quainoo, visited Samguli-Labaldo to meet with the family of the 31-year-old deceased to comfort them.
The team, along with Saboba Police / Military patrol teams with Saboba DISEC members, assured the family that police investigations would lead the perpetrators to the search.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that all of the suspects have fled the community, but arrest warrants are being sought from the courts to pursue and possibly publish.
Sanguli-Labaldo is currently calm with the police and military patrol team on the ground.
Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed said JoyNews the attack is linked to an ongoing leadership dispute between two Konkomba rivals in the community.

Reports further indicate that his body has been deposited in a morgue in Yendi.
The deceased was said to have attended the peace call together with the chairman of a delegation from the local peace committee, the Reverend Father Nicholas, when gunmen shot him several times and he was killed instantly.
His visit to the region was to sensitize people to avoid violence and embrace peace, as part of a conflict resolution strategy to ensure a permanent ceasefire between two rival leadership factions.
The dispute broke out in the community about five years ago when community members rejected a chief selected by the Yaa Naa.
The Northern Region minister, however, has urged calm among community residents as he says security has increased.
