Former member of the National Democratic Parliament of the Ejura Sekyere-Dumase Electoral District in the Ashanti region, Alhaji Mohammed Issifu Pangadu, has said they are bastardizing him for speaking out about the positive impact of the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative.
According to him, people do not understand why a former NDC member of Parliament could make public statements about the policies of an opposition party.
“When I was in Parliament, although both NDC and NPP or Majority and Minority disagreed on many issues, when it comes to national development issues, we built a consensus in the interest of Ghana.
“Why should I have a problem with the testimony of a former NDC MP who is benefiting from the good NPP intervention?” Pandagu said.
He said Ghana’s problem is dishonesty and hypocrisy.
Pandagu said that if it hadn’t been the government’s support through the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative, life would have been difficult for him after parliament.
He made comments on the commissioning of a 100,000 capacity fertilizer and improved seed depot built by a private Agro Chemicals distributor, RansBoat Company Ltd.
Mr. Pandagu called on Ghanaians to stop politicizing issues of national importance and support initiatives that alleviate the plight of the people.
“Both NDC and NPP are beneficiaries of subsidized fertilizers and improved seeds. It has improved farmers’ yields and I have benefited enormously. I am Muslim, so if I stand anywhere and give false testimony about it, Allah will punish me. “. said the former NDC deputy.
He urged the people of Ghana to take advantage of the intervention and get into farming.
The general manager of RansBoat Company Ltd, agrochemical distributors and poultry farms, Mr. Teddy Adei, said that their supply chain has overcome the lack of access to agricultural inputs in rural areas, preventing high productivity.
According to Teddy Adei, RansBoat built the 100,000 warehouse with capacity to store excess inputs and avoid the acute shortage of agricultural inputs that plague agriculture in rural Ghana.
The fertilizer warehouse, which is the largest private warehouse so far, aims to ensure the continuous supply of agricultural inputs to farmers.
RansBoat Company Ltd asked the government to increase their supply allocation under Planting For Food and Jobs as they have the ability to supply the entire country on time.
Currently, the supply of agricultural inputs within the framework of planting for food and employment has been assigned to private distributors of agrochemicals.
Many farmers still complain about the acute shortage and the distributor in the supply of inputs, but RansBoat says it has the ability to supply almost the entire country in time if the government increases its allocation.
Mr Teddy Adei added that, RansBoat currently has 64,000 layers and intends to start with 100,000 broilers by next year.
RansBoat wants to produce 120,000 metric tons of processed poultry annually to reduce the import of poultry to Ghana.
Teddy Adei wants the government to lower taxes on the importation of battery cage equipment to allow local poultry farmers to mechanize to increase government breeding for food and jobs.
The Minister of the Eastern Region, Hon Eric Kwakye Darfour, praised RansBoat for its dedication in the agricultural sector.
He said the $ 100,000 capacity fertilizer depot would help ensure a steady supply of inputs to farmers and advance the government’s goal of making agricultural inputs available and accessible to all.
However, he expressed concern about the continued activities of illegal miners and sand winners in the Eastern Region that pose a threat to the success of FSY.
He said that these illegal miners, who are heavily armed, enter the farms at night and cause devastation on the farms.
According to Mr. Kwakye Darfour, the Regional Security Council is working to put an end to these illegal activities that inhibit the progress of the FSY initiative.
