Uruguayan international Luis Suárez has opened up on his departure from Barcelona, a club to which he has devoted much of his dedication and passion over the years.
Suárez, who had become the club’s third all-time top scorer, received shocking news when new boss Ronald Koeman told him that a surplus of requirements had become, something unexpected.
Since then, the 33-year-old decided to clear things up and reveal what he went through towards the end and admitted it was one of the hardest times he has ever been through.
“Those days were very difficult. I cried for what was happening, “said Suárez via Reuters.
“I did not take the message from the club that they were looking for a solution for me to mix things up very well.
“What hurt me the most was the way they did things because you have to accept it when a cycle comes to an end.
“My wife saw how unhappy I was and wanted to see me smile again and when the opportunity to sign for Atlético came I had no doubts.”
Suárez also expressed his gratitude to his teammate and lifelong friend, Lionel Messi, who faced the club after the Uruguayan’s mistreatment.
“I was not surprised that Messi supported me publicly because I know him too well. I knew the pain I was going through, the feeling that they were throwing me out was what hurt me the most, ”he continued.
“The way they did things was not right and Leo knows how much I and my family suffered.”
