Monday marked the end of the international transfer window, with Premier League clubs achieving their grand finale of the summer.
The national window remains open until Friday (October 16), which means that top-level clubs can buy from the EFL and vice versa.
But for all intents and purposes, the managers now have their players in place for the 2020/21 season.
Yet even though the window is closed, bosses working on a tight budget could see the growing pool of available free agents.
Those who are not linked to a club can sign at any time of the season, although they may be affected by the Premier League registration deadline.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the ones available for free and tried to create the best XI available:
GK: Danijel Subasic
Two years after starting a World Cup final, Subasic now has no club.
The Croatian international left Monaco in June, after spending eight and a half years at the provincial club.
During that time he won a Ligue 1 title, as well as helping Monaco to the semi-final of the Champions League in 2017.
LB: Gael Clichy
After winning the Premier League three times during his stay in England, the former Arsenal and Manchester City defender left for Turkey and Istanbul Basasehir in 2017.
During his three years in the Turkish capital, he played more than 100 times, helping the club to its first league title in 2019/20.
The 35-year-old Frenchman may still have a few kilometers left on his watch.
CB: Ezequiel Garay
After four years at Valenica, the Aregntina international is possibly the most prominent member of the back-four.
The 33-year-old has 32 appearances for Argentina and, despite being linked to a move to England for several years, has never taken the plunge.
At the end of his career, he could be an option for teams that need a reliable and experienced central defender.
CB: Jozo Simunovic
The youngest player on the list, the 26-year-old was a surprise pitch from Celtic at the end of last season.
The defender won 12 trophies during his time in Glasgow and, despite a series of injuries, impressed Parkhead bosses Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.

RB: Nathaniel Clyne
Clyne has endured two injury-devastated seasons and missed the entirety of Liverpool’s Premier League winning seasons with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The academy graduate Crystal Palace has been training with his former club and could be signed by Roy Hodgson in the coming weeks.
CM: Jack Wilshere
His move across London from Arsenal to West Ham was supposed to finally mark the resurrection of the former England star’s career.
However, injuries restricted him to just 18 appearances in two seasons with the Hammers.
His contract was terminated last week, but Wilshere is convinced he can still contribute to the Premier League.
He said: “Although of course I am frustrated that I have not been able to demonstrate what I am capable of at West Ham, I remain convinced that I can still contribute at the top of the game.”
CM: Steven Defour
A brilliant start to his career at Burnley was hampered by serious injuries. He only rested six times in his final season at Turf Moor, before returning to Belgium with Royal Antwerp last September.
It remains to be seen if Defour can return to the form that earned him 52 games for Belgium, but if he can, it’s a risk worth taking.
CM: Yohan Cabaye
The 34-year-old has more than 150 Premier League appearances during his stints with Newcastle and Palace.
His form at Newcastle was so good that he earned a pass to French PSG in 2013.
That didn’t really work out, but when he’s in shape, he’s a player who has proven himself at the top level.
LW: Danny Welbeck
After passing through Manchester United and Arsenal, Welbeck hoped that his move to Watford would provide him with regular opportunities in the first team.
Unfortunately, he could only handle 18 appearances when the Hornets went down.
His high salary meant that the championship club was forced to terminate his contract earlier this week.
In his day, Welbeck has shown himself to be a capable first-class forward and is very likely to be beaten in no time.
CF: Mario Mandzukic
Another member of Croatia’s selection for the 2018 World Cup, Mandzukic is looking for a new club after leaving Qatar and Al-Duhail.
His last season with Juve saw him score 10 times in all competitions and before that, he has enjoyed nearly a decade at the highest level of European football.
RW: Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge, who is available to play after his ban for breaking the betting rules ended, is looking to return to the Premier League.
The former Liveprool striker enjoyed a positive start with Trabzonspor in Turkey before his contract was canceled.
Despite being linked to various clubs around the world, Sturridge has yet to decide on his next move as he awaits a move to the English top flight.
He said: “I think I have a lot to give to the Premier League and I would say that it is my first choice.”
“I feel like I have unfinished business, so I would like to go back and play there.”
