Adama Traore has downplayed conversations linking him to a possible return to Barcelona, insisting that he is only focused on acting for the Wolves.

Traore is admired by many of Europe’s best teams after his excellent form for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, and as Sportsmail previously reported, the 24-year-old winger is said to be wanted back by the club he left in 2015.

The Wolves are eager to open talks on a new long-term contract and would demand a huge price for Traore, whom he joined in August 2018 in a £ 18 million deal from Middlesbrough.

Traore, who won his first international game with Spain in Wednesday’s 0-0 friendly draw with Portugal, was born in Barcelona and was on the books of the Catalan giants before joining Aston Villa on their initial arrival in England in 2015.

But speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s Nations League tie with Switzerland, he avoided talking about returning to Barca and said he is only concentrating on improving his game at Wolves.

It is not my decision if I would adapt to Barcelona. My mentality is to work every day to be better, ‘he told AS.

Spanish coach Luis Enrique praised Traore for his debut.

“Adama was Adama at his best,” Enrique said. “He has a huge capacity to outperform his rivals.

“We changed the way we play to get him more passes. He is a specialist in one-on-one situations. It doesn’t matter if he is defended by one, two or three opponents, he is capable of scoring centers and creating advantageous situations ”.

Traore was selected by Spain, just three days after being also summoned by Mali. He could still shift his allegiance to Mali if he wishes as he won’t be tied to La Roja until he plays a competitive match, which could be against Switzerland and then Ukraine in the Nations League.

The 17-year-old Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, a friend of his days at the Camp Nou youth, also joined the Spanish team, although he did not want to comment on whether he wanted to reconnect with him at Barça.

“We talk about everything,” Traore said.

‘We met at the academy and we talked about things to do with the team, about the things we went through together in Barcelona. We know each other well.
