Akwatia Member of Parliament in the eastern region, Mercy Ama Adu Gyamfi, affectionately called Ama Sey, has finally slowed down her decision to run in the upcoming elections as an independent candidate.

Ama Sey made the decision to defect from the ruling PNP government after losing in the party’s parliamentary primaries that were held in June 2020.

According to a report presented by the Daily Guide, after numerous consultations and advice from some high-profile personalities in the party, the bosses and her church, she has rescinded her decision.

Ama Sey, who had already bought her forms and was likely to submit a nomination later this week, will meet with her supporters to inform them of the new decision to withdraw her candidacy.

His campaign posters and flyers, which were reportedly posted, were also withdrawn from the market.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, referring to the absence of Ama Sey during a rally in her region, announced that “this independent thing that you are talking about, I have heard it. But I don’t think that Ama Sey will become independent. no “Don’t believe it. And she is a staunch NPP and the welfare of the NPP party is very dear to her. “

The president also said and added that “it hurts me that she is not here but I know well that she will not do that. If the 4more4Nana comes true, she will be part of my new arrangements and she (Ama Sey) knows she has,” said Nana Addo to the people of Akwatia.

Ama Sey ousted NDC’s Baba Jamal in the 2016 parliamentary elections, but lost control of the constituency in the recent PNP primaries with a total of 223 votes compared to 227 for her opponent Ernest Kumi.
