Police are reportedly investigating a robbery at Cristiano Ronaldo’s home in Madeira.

The thief is said to have entered the property in the island’s capital, Funchal, through an open garage door while the footballer was away with the Portugal team.

A relative of the Ronaldos raised the alarm Wednesday morning, according to the respected island newspaper Diario de Noticias Madeira. On Wednesday night, Ronaldo participated in a match against Spain.

The local newspaper reported that the thief took the opportunity to enter the garage when it was opened by a maintenance worker.

A signed Juventus jersey, worth around £ 180, is said to be among the items that were taken along with other small possessions.

It is understood that the police have already visited the property and are said to have identified the thief, described as someone they already know, on closed-circuit television cameras. No arrests have yet been made.

It was not immediately clear whether Cristiano’s doting mother, Dolores, or older brother Hugo, who live in the seven-story home, were inside the property at the time.

Meanwhile, her partner Georgina Rodríguez was absent from Paris Fashion Week.

Juventus forward Cristiano spent the first part of the coronavirus lockdown earlier this year staying on the top two floors of the house with his partner Georgina Rodríguez and their children after the suspension of Serie A football.

They later moved into a villa with a garden a half hour drive away before flying back to Italy.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player played in last night’s 0-0 draw between Portugal and Spain.

Barcelona’s Gerard Piqué and former Chelsea leader Álvaro Morata are among the best footballers whose homes have been attacked by burglars.
