Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah has hinted at a possible penetration of the Volta secessionists into the Ashanti region.

For this reason, he says that measures such as a greater military and police presence have already been adopted to stop such an insurgency.

The Ashanti regional minister revealed that it will be challenging to distinguish the secessionists based on their appearance and race alone, as there are numerous volunteers living in the Ashanti region.

“Since there are many descendants of the Volta region in the Ashanti region, we have been looking for possible secessionists, we call on everyone, including traditional leaders, to help with information,” he said.

He told the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, that the security agencies are firmly on the ground.

According to the Volta regional minister Archibald Letsa, the people of the Volta region are not in favor of the activities of the separatists.

“I think that the majority of the people in the Volta Region, the majority, if I say majority, 95-98% of the people do not support what is happening. In fact, they are very embarrassed by the activities of these people, ”he said.

Mr. Osei-Mensah urged the heads of the various jurisdictions and all Ghanaians to be vigilant and cooperate to help in the fight against this crisis.

“If you see people in your area receiving military training or anything that looks suspicious or of any kind, let us know,” he said.
