Giroud overtook Michel Platini to finish second on France’s top scorers list

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud became France’s second top scorer of all time, beating Michel Platini, in a friendly Ukraine scorer.

Giroud, 34, scored two goals in the first half to bring his tally to 42 in his 100th international appearance, nine behind Thierry Henry’s record.

17-year-old Eduardo Camavinga scored the first goal in his full debut to become France’s second-youngest scorer.

Corentin Tolisso, Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann found the net.

Didier Deschamps’ team also benefited from Vitaliy Mykolenko’s own goal and, although Viktor Tsygankov retired a goal 4-1, the visitors were outmatched in Paris.

The win marked the worst defeat in Ukraine’s history, with the team now led by former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko.
