Young people from the traditional Asogli area in the Volta region have threatened to invoke the gods of their ancestors to attack the leaders of the region who may be betraying the region in the face of secessionist activities there in recent times.

In addition, young people have issued a challenge to members of the different separatist groups in that part of the country, to join them in finding those responsible behind the recent unrest in the region.

According to the youth of Asogli, if the separatists really believe they have no hand in the recent secessionist activities in the region, then they should join forces with them and with the security agencies to find those responsible for the unrest.

The youth made the call at a press conference held in Ho on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Addressing journalists, the group’s spokeswoman, Nutifafa Degbor, recorded the discontent of the young people for what they said was a “lack of respect” for the bosses and “the people of the Volta region by the main political figures, that have not been addressed by the authorities, including but not limited to the statement, a few years ago, by the Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, MP of Assin Central urging the assassination of Voltarians and Gas ”.

“Two; the recent videotaped statement by KT Hammond that the people of the Volta region are not Ghanaian but Togolese; third, the lack of respect for chiefs during visits by political leaders to the region; four, attacks to Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV by Mr. Freddie Blay, the National President of the PNP ”, among others.

The youth also noted that they are frustrated by some recent events.

“The recent wrongful exclusion of the region’s highways from the national budget. Two, the invasion of our region by the military and other security forces during a recent voter registration exercise under the pretext of fighting COVID-19.

“Three, a video distributed by a certain Kevin Taylor supposedly based in the United States of America in which he alleged that the government planned to send vigilantes to foment unrest in the region before the elections.”

“We have also been closely following statements in the media by the separatist group denying their involvement in the ongoing violent attack in the region and the counter-accusations by the Ghanaian government,” said the young Asogli.

The young man also indicated that the recent unrest could have a negative impact on the region, including “eroding investor confidence, generating anxiety and insecurity, wasting scarce national resources in maintaining security, disrupting commercial and social activities, threats of interruption of the voting in the Volta Region during the next elections of December 7, among others ”.

Therefore, the group pledged its utmost support for the traditional leaders’ call for warriors to rise up and protect the citizens to complement the efforts of their citizens and called on the brother traditional rulers to do the same.

Young Asogli said: “We are therefore issuing a challenge to members of the separatist groups to join us, the Asogli warriors and state security, so that we can, together, unravel the mystery of these notorious perpetrators. of this criminal act if they really believe they are being wrongly accused. “

The young man further warned that they will invoke the gods and spirits of their ancestors to deal with any leaders behind the riots.

“Therefore, we have started a series of spiritual exercises in preparation for the task that lies ahead and we would invoke the gods and spirits of our ancestors to attack any leader who is betraying the people of the Volta region. for their selfish gains. “
