NIGERIA: Judge Olusegun Odusola of the Ondo State Superior Court sentenced the founder of the Sotitobire Chapel of Praise, Pastor Samuel Babatunde, also known as Alfa Babatunde, to life imprisonment for the disappearance of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole , in his Church.

The one-year-old boy was declared missing on November 10, 2019 during a religious service at the children’s section of the Sotitobire Prayer Ministry located in Oshinle Quarters in Akure, the state capital.

The clergyman was arrested, along with seven other church members, and was tried in magistrates court on six counts.

The matter was later transferred to the State Superior Court.

In delivering his sentence in the case today, Tuesday, October 6, Judge Odusola said that based on the evidence provided by the prosecution team, the cleric and the other five were found guilty of two counts of kidnapping and complicity to kidnap. He later sentenced them to life imprisonment.
