Accra – October 6, 2020 – The MTN Ghana Foundation has commissioned a three-unit block of classrooms for New Mangoase Roman Catholic Basic School in the eastern region.
The project, which costs 394,379.27 GHc, will benefit more than 420 students from the new Mangoase and the surrounding communities.
The facility includes a principal’s office, a common room for staff, and furniture for the classroom. Additionally, Huawei, a technology partner of MTN Ghana, donated 12 desktops with a matching desk to help with ICT teaching and learning.
Providing this facility for the school will help eliminate the problem of walking more hours to other communities to access education. It will significantly reduce overcrowding and help eliminate absenteeism among school children.
Speaking about the project, MTN Ghana Corporate Services Executive Mr. Samuel Koranteng said that the MTN Ghana Foundation agreed to support the school because it recognizes the important role that education plays in the development of people and society.
“The layout of this school block shows that we take the problems of education seriously. The MTN Ghana Foundation believes that education gives each individual the opportunity to escape poverty and have a fair chance to build a better future. ”
He said: “Although school is not in session due to COVID 19, MTN Ghana Foundation is still excited that students will return to school in a safe and supportive learning environment.”
A few weeks ago, the MTN Ghana Foundation was highly praised for providing a six-unit classroom block and staff bungalow for children at Nhyiaeso in Asante Akim.
For more than twelve years, the MTN Ghana Foundation has consistently invested in various initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of Ghanaians.
So far, the organization has spent more than $ 15,207,874.19 on 150 projects across the country. Of these 85 are educational projects. These projects are estimated to have impacted more than 4 million people.
