The Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the Minister of Energy as a good man who is in the wrong political party.
“I know Amewu very well and he is from this town, but whatever good he has done as an individual can never change the policies of the Akufo-Addo government. He will go to heaven for his good works. He will not go to Parliament ”.
Asiedu Nketia addressed party members in Wli and Hohoe Zongo, all in the Hohoe constituency over the weekend, thanking them for “being with the NDC party from 1992 to date” and urging them to vote for the parliamentary candidate. and also by the standard bearer of the party to regain the presidential seat.
“He is my friend, so don’t insult him. What we want is to convince you to come and join the NDC, your government believes in prosperity for few family and friends, so even if you are in your government, they could help you get rich, but not the same as helping to your community. to get rich too. “
He said that the change of political parties had never fostered the development of communities in the country.
“I don’t think that the change in political parties has helped any community in Ghana. It is better to stay with your party by voting for the presidential and parliamentary candidates in the elections.
“You all know that we have been under this government for about four years and you don’t need anyone to tell you how the New Patriotic Party (PNP) governs. He may have a very nice person, who is his brother at NPP, but he alone cannot change NPP policies.
The Secretary General noted that the NDC party advocated prosperity for all because it was better for a government to create conditions for everyone in the community to earn a living rather than enrich the individuals.
“NDC would create the conditions for young people to earn a living for themselves, therefore the two main policies of the party include; free technical and vocational education to empower young people ”.
He noted that the party would ensure that people who do not have the opportunity to go to school also have the power to earn a living thanks to the party’s free national apprenticeship program.
“When we come to power, we will recruit at least 500,000 young people across the country and we will also select master apprentices and artisans, register them, and assign these recruits to various vocations, while the government pays for their services.”
Asiedu Nketia said the NDC government would provide toolkits and seed capital for trainees who completed their trainings under the program.
The secretary general, who revealed that the next NDC government would continue the works of all previous governments, urged party members to campaign without insults and fights in the constituency.
“We hear that Amewu is building blocks of classrooms for schools as an individual, but that should be the job of the government. Let him know that we will complete the blocks when we gain power. “
However, Anthony Kondobrey, president of NPP’s Hohoe constituency, reporting to the media later, said that the NDC Secretary General’s statements made in relation to John Peter Amewu should be considered as tacit endorsement of the candidate of the NPP against the NDC Candidate.
He said that the level of development activities being carried out in the constituency, championed by Mr. Amewu is legendary and that the electorates of the Hohoe constituency have noted that beyond party colors, there must be projects of developed chords to acknowledge loyalty, saying “Asiedu Nketia and the NDC should be ashamed of themselves for using people for their parish interests.”
He said that the electorate in Hohoe has seen the fruits of a single man and decided who should be their next Member of Parliament and that Amewu’s description of Asiedu Nketia as a friend and a good man is known to the people, who have decided to vote. . for him.
Kondobrey disagreed with the NDC secretary general that while Amewu is a good man, his good deeds would only dampen him from getting into heaven, but not Parliament insisting that a candidate for heaven is a better candidate for Parliament. than the NDC candidate.
He said politics had shifted from colonizing people’s minds to just following political colors without giving them the necessary development, a reservation of the NDC, which he has continued to demonstrate since 1992.
He said that “modern politics bridges the gap of underdevelopment, what the PNP is doing and Mr. Amewu is serving as a pillar between the government and the people, using the relevant development lobbying skills of the Hohoe constituency.”
Hohoe NPP chairman said the changing trend of politics is what the NDC and Asiedu Nketia didn’t understand and they were still thinking that people continue to support parties that do not respect loyalty, they would chase the wind.
He went on to say that Mr. Amewu is an integral part of the government of the nuclear power plant and everything he did should be seen as part of the government’s support for the people in the area, adding: “How can Amewu use his personal resources to do government work? funded by Amewu, which Asiedu Nketia should know better. “
