President Akufo-Addo has commended the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwesi Amoako-Atta, as the most outstanding Minister of Roads and Highways in the country’s history.

Addressing a durbar of Akwatia chiefs and people as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, the president indicated that the performance of the minister, who is also a member of Parliament from Atewa West, is exceptional.

“In the road sector, when you consider the work that Mr. Amoako-Atta has done over the past 2 years, we will not find any minister who has worked as effectively as he has in the history of Ghana… Thanks to his efforts, road works in the 16 regions are making serious progress, ”said the president.

Akufo-Addo said that most of the district capitals in Ghana have benefited from paved roads or other road construction projects through the dynamic leadership of Mr. Amoako Atta in the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

“More importantly, their work is not in a ‘Green Book’, they are real, verifiable projects that are obvious for all to see.”

This was said in reference to the Green Paper presented by the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) in the run-up to the 2016 elections, which allegedly listed a summary of President Mahama’s accomplishments as president.

Earlier this year, the government announced that 2020 will be ‘The Year of the Roads’ and has therefore invested heavily in building new roads, upgrading old and deplorable roads, among others.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the Eastern Region alone represents 1,615.11km of highway construction projects in the last 4 years.
