The leader of the secessionist group Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF), Mr. Charles Kormi Kudzordzi, popularly known as Papavi, has published a video message in which he denies any involvement of the group in the recent violence that broke out in parts of the region of the Volta by some people. who also claim to be activists for an independent western Togo.

In their first attack on Friday, September 25, 2020, secessionists seized two police stations, held officers hostage, and stole weapons from armories after blocking entry and exit points in the Volta region.

They subsequently set fire to two buses in the Ho STC yard on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

Papavi, however, said that HSGF was not involved in both incidents.

“The Homeland Study Group Foundation is a peaceful group,” said Mr. Kudzordzi, who is 80 years old, and emphasized in his Ho speech that it is “a peace-loving group, a peace-generating group, a peacekeeping group ”.

According to him, he has been cooperating with the Ghanaian security authorities after his arrests in the past along with some of his followers.

“I have made myself available to the police and security agencies on several occasions.

“Whenever they wanted me, I would go there, we would have an argument and then I would come home.

He also noted that his peaceful proposals to the government of Ghana have been left blank.

“On two occasions, I have written to the government of Ghana and to the president for us to sit down and discuss this matter in a round table. No attention has been paid to the lyrics, ”he complained.

In his opinion, “Ghana should intensify its level of investigations against people who do things and not only suspect and arrest people.”

A few days ago, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said that his government will deal with secessionist groups.

Speaking for the first time about the attacks launched by these groups in some parts of the Volta region in recent times, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “It is only a handful of people; these secessionists. “

“We will take care of them.”

“I have no doubt, but this country is of no use if I start making hysterical statements.”

“I trust the security agencies, the armed forces, the police, I trust their leadership and intelligence agencies and I know that they are all working very hard so that this matter is resolved as quickly as possible,” said the President in an interview on Hello Accra-based FM in Kumasi on Wednesday October 30, 2020.

Furthermore, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia described them as mere criminals who are after a non-existent nation.

He told Osei Bonsu on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen political talk show on Wednesday September 30, 2020 that: “We are a very peaceful nation”, adding: “Indeed, the most peaceful nation in West Africa,” according to the ” Global peace index and we have been independent since 1957 and, in general, Ghana has not been a place where you can find these kinds of problems.

“But recently, you’ve heard people say that Ghana is not really Ghana and I don’t understand it,” said a puzzled Dr. Bawumia.

“I want to understand where they come from. That is why I think it is simply criminal because history does not support what they want, “he said.
