FIFA Coaching Instructor Bernhard Lippert has been appointed Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association for a period of two years.
The 58-year-old German coach is a FIFA expert in coaching and training coaches and coaches.
As then U17, U19 and U21 Head Coach and Technical Director, he played a vital role in qualifying Azerbaijan for the first time in the country’s history for the Elite round of their respective European competitions. He also achieved the best U21 result in the country’s history during the European qualifiers.
Lippert was the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt from 1998-99, where he also served as assistant coach, supervisor of youth education and head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt U23 on different occasions.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, he trained and developed more than 20 players in the club’s youth system to become regular players in the Bundesliga.
In the early stages of his coaching career, he had brief stints as a coach with German soccer giants Bayern Munich, English team Leeds United and the Spanish club.
As Technical Director of the Ghana FA, he will head the Technical Directorate and formulate guidelines, strategies and policies for the training and technical development of Ghana soccer coaches, to advise the Executive Council on matters of training and technical development in general and the supervision of the coaches of the national football teams, to which the Association may assign the Technical Director.
Bernhard Lippert will be responsible for the strategy, development and technical direction of the Technical Directorate, the preparation and implementation of technical programs in the youth, national and youth teams, thus preparing football coaches and footballers for the future.
You will be required to develop the capacity of the Technical Directorate of the Association which will include but will not be limited to the following departments; Coach training, referee training, talent identification, performance analysis, technical studies and video analysis, health and nutrition, sports psychology, strength and conditioning, and sports medicine.
As part of his duties, the Technical Director will organize courses and conferences for Match Officials, Team Officials, Instructors, Coaches and Administrators.
It is also expected to evaluate the training program of the national teams, examine the reports on the players produced by the managers (team leaders, coaches and welfare officials), analyze international matches and advise the association.
The well-respected former footballer and head coach is fluent in English, Spanish and German.
Bernhad Lipper has been appointed Technical Director after a process in which over a hundred coaches applied for the position and six technical personalities were shortlisted for interviews (three coaches from Ghana and three coaches from abroad).
