The Apex Bank of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB) obtained the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001; Certification 2013.
Kojo Mattah, Managing Director of ARB, said the Bank received the coveted certification in February 2020, following a “rigorous” evaluation process, which was led by KPMG, an international consulting firm.
The Director revealed these when he addressed the Apex Bank’s 19th Annual Directors Conference in Ho, which addressed the theme “The Speed of Change.”
“This certification means that ARB Apex Bank has become one of the leading banks to be certified in Ghana.
“The certification is a validation of our ability to provide an exceptional experience to our customers. It is a hallmark of trust in our people, systems and processes and a strong announcement to our partners and clients that the Bank and our RCB members have come a long way and are prepared to provide superior service to clients, ”said Mattah.
ISO continues to be one of the most recognized information security management standards, and its achievement adds to the data management credentials of the rural banking sector.
“RCB clients can be accused of the security of their data, as it is managed according to the rigorous benchmarks followed by various multinational organizations.
“RCBs can be assured of increased trust from customers and business partners as a result of increased reliability and security of systems and information,” said the Director.
Mattah said that the rural banking sector managed to hold its head high during the coronavirus pandemic, recording significant growth in deposits.
He said the Bank’s commitment to harnessing innovation and service technology also helped rural and community banks (RCBs) survive the dreaded financial sector cleanup.
“We can say without hesitation that our quest to harness the power of innovation and digitization for sustainable growth has yielded some tangible results. Today we can boast of a modern ICT backbone, which is helping us develop innovative customer-centric products for RCB customers, ”said the Director.
He said the Bank had implemented a mobile banking service, as part of its Agency Banking Service, noting that a data center upgrade scheduled to be completed in November 2020 would improve communication and also facilitate the smooth running of services. mobile and online banking. .
Mr. Mattah mentioned that four important cyber and information security and requirements of the Ghana Financial Sector Development Project have been given the green light, and that upon completion, it would provide world-class data and network security for RCBs. .
It acknowledged the partnership with Ghana’s interbank settlement and payment systems, which it said had “delivered good results,” including accessing RCB clients to the services of GOIL and KFC branches across the country.
