Juventus’ clash with Naples, which was scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed due to the lack of arrival of the visitors and Andrea Pirlo’s team will receive a 3-0 victory in Serie A.

Sources told ESPN that local health authorities did not give Napoli permission to leave the Campania region after players Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas tested positive for coronavirus.

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli said that Aurelio De Laurentiis, his Napoli counterpart, had asked him to postpone the match.

“De Laurentiis sent me a message asking for the match to be postponed and I replied that, as always, Juventus will follow the rules,” Agnelli said. “If we don’t, we are failing as citizens rather than athletes.”

The healthy authorities in Naples told the RAI television station that the Napoli players are in “strict quarantine” and “could face criminal charges” if they fail to comply.

Despite being aware that their opponents would not participate, Juventus acted as if they were preparing for a match.

A starting lineup was named and tweeted from the club’s official account, as the players warmed up in front of the spectators at the stadium. Napoli, meanwhile, did not name a lineup for the match.

The Campania region has seen an increase in coronavirus cases in recent days and the Napoli team was quarantined after its two positive cases.

It will be the second time this season, as the Serie A match has been adjudged a 3-0 victory, as Roma saw their 0-0 draw reversed on the opening day after a clerical error.
