Accra, October 2, 2020 – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has received an important boost since the European Union within the framework of the Responsibility, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Program (ARAP), implemented by the Spanish public foundation FIIAPP, has provided a mobile Cinema Van to extend its educational campaign in Ghana.
In her speech, Ambassador Acconcia highlighted the key role of the NCCE in mobilizing society in matters of interest to citizens, in real issues, in raising awareness for political participation, in giving voice to the voiceless. The Ambassador commented that the EU is proud of its partnership that supports the Commission and hopes that the vehicle will meet the educational needs of the population that is generally left out, particularly urban, peri-urban and urban dwellers.
Ms. Josephine Nkrumah, NCCE Chairperson highlighted the fruitful collaboration between the European Union and NCCE Ghana and thanked the EU for its support.
The acquisition of Cinema Van for the NCCE aims to increase the audiovisual capacity of the Commission to reach the population through documentaries, films and audio recordings such as jingles, pre-recorded voice messages and live on the street or in the community. advertisements.
The audiovisual Cinema Van is specially designed as a robust vehicle that can traverse the local terrain in Ghana. It is appropriate for operations in all parts of the country. It is fully equipped with the necessary equipment that will make possible its use in all terrains and operational situations.
To implement and sustain the progress made in sensitizing identifiable groups on ARAP issues, the Commission will use the Cinema Van to expand its educational campaign, especially on environmental governance issues such as illegal small-scale mining, illegal logging and bad waste disposal in affected communities across the country. Beyond ARAP, the Van will also deepen the Commission’s operational capacity to reach the citizens, especially before, during and after the next General Elections with the message of peace and political tolerance..
After the award ceremony, ARAP team leader Ms. Ana Sánchez, along with the NCCE commissioner, the European Union ambassador to Ghana and other guests, inspected the donated Cinema Van.

The Responsibility, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Program (ARAP) is a program funded by the EU, implemented by the Spanish public foundation FIIAPP that joins and supports the efforts of the Government of Ghana in its fight against corruption.
