The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered all middle and high school students to return to school on Monday, October 5, 2020.

This will allow them to complete the third quarter and the second semester, respectively, of the current academic year.

This was contained in a press release dated October 2, 2020 and signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the GES Public Relations Unit, and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

The statement said that “management wishes to assure students, parents, teachers and the general public that necessary measures have been implemented to ensure their safety while they are at school.”

He said that all schools had been fumigated and disinfected and that personal protective equipment had also been distributed to all schools.

The statement urged all school authorities, staff and students to recognize that COVID-19 was still present and therefore they should strictly observe all guidelines issued to schools.

He urged parents, guardians, and the general public to continue to support, cooperate, and collaborate with educational authorities to ensure successful academic work in all schools.
