Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) proposal to pay local players GH1500 as a monthly allowance in case they win the December election as a “trick.”

The opposition NDC has said emphatically that local players will receive such amount as a monthly allowance in their next government after the launch of their ‘Peoples Manifesto’ last month.

But according to Dr. Bawumia, the opposition party that has a history of failing to deliver on campaign promises cannot be trusted.

“I am struggling to understand how NDC will deliver on its promise to pay local GH players1,500 as a monthly allowance, “he said during an interview in Asempa FM.

He stressed that the NDC led by Mahama lacks the credibility to deliver on its promises.

However, the vice president said that the advances made by the New Patriotic Party (PNP) in sports development in the country are unparalleled.

“The NPP is delivering results in the area of sports. We pay players through the YEA program every month; we are building 10 multipurpose stadiums in the regions. In the future, the NPP will build artificial grass pitches in each district, ”he added.
