Chelsea fans have taken to social media to react to rumors of a possible move by Atlético de Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Ghana international has been linked to a move to the Premier League this summer, but could the Blues surpass their London rivals Arsenal in this deal?

Well, according to The Guardian, it is possible.

The report indicates that the West London team could look to alternatives to West Ham United’s Declan Rice as they try to hire a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.

In addition, it is claimed that an option could be Partey, who has a release clause of 45 million pounds in his contract with Atlético.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph reports that Chelsea scouts have been watching Partey in recent months and he could be a replacement for Jorginho amid ties to the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain.

Unsurprisingly, this transfer rumor has sparked a massive backlash from many Blues fans.

When asked about the transfers on Friday, Blues head coach Frank Lampard did not want to be drawn on what could happen between now and Monday’s deadline.

“I wouldn’t call it thinning the squad, I’m not sure that’s the right term, but we have a great squad,” he said. “I am not interested in getting involved in speculation during the last days of the window, because what I say now would be speculation.

“So we’ll see how that plays out in the next few days, focus on tomorrow’s game and we’ll see what moves there might be.”
