The Ghana Disability Federation in the Bono region has notified that political parties that do not recognize or associate with them will be denied their votes in the general elections on 7 December.
“If they don’t recognize us as human beings and want our votes, it would be very difficult for us,” the Federation’s vice president in the Bono region said in a comment during a meeting with former president John Dramani Mahama. .
According to them, this is the first time that a political party has arrived in the region and meets with the Federation in the run-up to the general elections.
The opposition standard-bearer NDC held a meeting with people living with disabilities on Friday at the Hotel Eusbert in Sunyani in the Bono region, where he detailed specific policies affecting the Federation in the NDC People’s Manifesto.
The vice president of the Federation in the region emphasized that “if we want us to be part of you, first you recognize us as human beings before we can vote.”
“Our Father we tell you that we are very grateful to you, for at least recognizing us as part of the community. It is something that we are very grateful for and really very happy. So we are challenging the public that listens to us and the other political parties, if you have something to present, bring us. We have a motto that we normally say: “Nothing for us without us,” he said.
Meanwhile, champion of the Democratic National Congress, John Mahama will visit 28 communities as part of his four-day tour of the North West Region.
He will begin his tour on Sunday, October 4, 2020 with a durbar in Sefwi Bopa, Aprutu and Kramokrom in the Akontombra constituency.
