All People’s Congress (APC) founder and standard-bearer Dr. Hassan Ayariga announced Frank Yaw Kuadey, Accountant, as his running mate and launched the party’s 2020 manifesto in Accra.

Dr. Ayariga described Mr. Kuadey’s nomination as his vice presidential nominee as “divine.”

“The nomination of Mr. Kuadey is not a fluke, but rather a divine assignment to partner Dr. Hassan Ayariga to win the 2020 elections,” said Dr. Ayariga.

Mr. Kuadey is married with five children and hails from Agbozume, in the Volta region.

The APC standard-bearer called on the running mate and party rank-and-file to begin changing the electorate’s opinion on the option for change, rather than “recycling” Ghana’s current political leadership.

“I want to see him getting dirty, preaching to the people of Ghana that there is a new leader, not recycling NDC or NPP, but that change is coming.”

In launching the manifesto, the APC founder described the content as politics rather than promises and pledged to run a peace campaign before and during the elections.

“If 2020 is about politics and manifestos, then we have already won the elections.”

He urged the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) to oppose any violence in the upcoming elections.

“I call on the NDC to get rid of its ‘start-up’ and the NPP to get rid of its ‘Charlie wote to Charlie.’ We are not going to war, ”said Dr. Ayariga and appealed to the standard bearers of the PNP and NDC to commit to peaceful elections.

“If people are going to die for me to be president, I will never be president in my life,” said Dr. Ayariga.

Describing Ghana as a “disgraced democracy” and tired of NDC and NPP, Dr. Ayariga assured Ghanaians of better democratic governance under his administration through institutional reforms and also promised to tackle corruption head-on.

The APC standard-bearer questioned the country’s spending on importing $ 1.2 billion worth of rice annually, noting that APC had designed policies for the nation to return to local food consumption.

In addition, the APC would create a debt recovery fund and initiate legislation to ensure that all persons seeking a state appointment pay any debt owed to the state before accepting an appointment.

On the environment, Dr. Ayariga said, an APC government would make sure residents go out themselves and remove all clogged gutters in front of their houses.

He also announced the division of the Upper East Region into two and the Ashanti Region into two.

The APC would also provide investment funds and training for the lead gatekeepers, locally called “kayayei.”

Also commercial private public transport operators (trotro) would receive loan facilities to own their own vehicles.

Regarding mining activities and concessions, Dr. Ayariga assured the electorate of policies that would put the Ghanaian first in granting concessions.

He assured the electorate of a better electricity supply and working street lighting, saying: “I will put streetlights on every corner.”

On nationalism and allegiance to Ghana, the APC government would designate a day when “everyone would raise the Ghanaian flag at home to remind us that we owe allegiance to Ghana.”
